Julie is originally from Ballaghaderreen in Co. Roscommon. She is a graduate of the Gaiety

School of Acting, Dublin and also holds a Diploma in Drama in Education and an MA in Drama

and Theatre Studies from UCC.

Most recent theatre work includes Remember to Breathe (Lustrum Award Edinburgh Fringe

2016) written and directed by Orla Murphy performed in Summerhall as part of the Edinburgh

Fringe Festival 2016 followed by Irish tour. The Big Wall written and directed by Bob Kelly for

Hawkswell Theatre Sligo’s 1916 Centenary Programme, an immersive theatre piece performed

in Sligo Courthouse and Sligo Jail. And Julie’s most recent one woman show, following the

success of previous plays Raccoon and Goodnight Irene, is A Game Called Lucy Finally Wins

which continues to be performed at festivals throughout the country most recently to sell out

audiences at Clonmel Junction Festival 2016.

Most recent TV and Film work includes the role of Margaret the palliative care nurse in the

critically acclaimed three part TV3 series Smalltown directed by Gerard Barrett and starring Pat

Shortt. Julie also recently featured in TV3 soap Red Rock in the role of Doctor Sarah Colgan

caring for character Conor Tyrell’s ongoing heroin addiction.

Julie continues to work extensively as a voice over artist and narrator.

Julie has many years’ experience working for the HSE as drama facilitator in residential units for

adults with intellectual disabilities particularly in Cork City and County.
