Dublin born Jacinta Sheerin started treading the boards as an aspiring young actress in Dublin Youth Theatre at the age of 15 and instantly fell in love with the world of theatre.
After cutting her teeth in DYT, she went on to complete a certificate in Drama and Dance from Marino College in Fairview Dublin before embarking on a three year BA degree in Theatre Studies at the University of Ulster in Coleraine.
Jacinta also went on to complete a course in drama facilitation with Artstrain and an MA in Dramatherapy at NUI Maynooth. She spent the next 10 years honing her skills as a facilitator and Dramatherapist working with various groups from young offenders to the elderly, traveller women and children with special needs.
In 2007, Jacinta co- founded the company Wicked Angels and went on to co-write, co-produce and act in the box office hit Waiting for IKEA for the Dublin Fringe Festival. Waiting for IKEA was the first play in the history of the Fringe to sell out in advance of opening. The play went on to tour Ireland and the UK for the next five years selling out at every venue. In 2014, Waiting for IKEA premiered in the First Irish Theatre Festival in New York where it was very well received.
I’m not A.D.H.D, I’m B.O.L.D!, co- written with Georgina McKevitt and performed by Jacinta Sheerin and Clare Barratt opened in the Absolut Fringe Festival 2012 where it was nominated for and won the Bewleys Little Gem Award. In the same year Jacinta began working with TEAM theatre and the REEL DEAL Programme, acting in a forum theatre piece that has toured and continues to tour schools around the country bringing the importance of sexual health to third year and transition year students.
Jacinta’s TV works includes, Tupperware (Paul Mercier,) Frazier Fraze (Emmet Kirwan), Love is the Drug (Darren Thornton) and feature film Seaside Stories (Fergus Tighe)
Jacinta has a strong singing voice and plays at regular gigs whilst continuing to write and create new work for theatre.
